Numero di ore previsto: 6 divise in due lezioni da 3 ore + esercitazioni a casa

Tipo di didattica: lezioni frontali ed esercitazioni pratiche individuali e in classe; dopo aver ricevuto le indicazioni della docente, agli alunni sarà richiesto di scrivere autonomamente, tra le prima e la seconda lezione, un testo accademico in inglese, che verrà poi letto e commentato in classe nella seconda.

Programma:
English for Academic Communication – Syllabus
1) Writing in your L1 vs writing in English; the writing process.
2) Basic text units (phrases, clauses, sentences, paragraphs); SVO sentence structure, end-weight principle, active vs passive verb forms; verb patterns.
3) Connecting text units correctly and effectively; use of punctuation; how to choose the appropriate linking words; how to achieve sentence variety.
4) Working on lexis: idioms and phrasal verbs; class shift; avoiding gender connotation; spelling conventions.
5) Applying hedging strategies; avoiding wordiness and dangling modifiers.
6) Delivering effective oral presentations.
7) Phonetics for effective oral presentations.
