Ca’ della Paglia is a residence for students where the access is regulated on merit base. It is open to the entire community of doctoral students, master’s degree students and resident doctors of the University of Pavia and the Scuola Universitaria Superiore IUSS.

It hosts foreign students of all study cycles who decide to study at the University of Pavia for more or less long periods. It also offers a guest house service, also available for short periods, to visiting scholars and visiting students.

Ca’ della Paglia, located in a modern building, near the University Polyclinic and the campus of the University that hosts most of the Scientific Departments, consists of forty independent fully furnished and autonomous small apartment (i.e studios) and common areas that house all the teaching spaces.

It also has a reserved parking area, is surrounded by a private garden and is well served by public transport.


Students sign the Personalized Training Project (“Progetto Formativo personalizzato”), specifically tailored around their training needs. Ca’ della Paglia organizes seminars, lectures, interdisciplinary conferences. It offers support to its students through a tutoring service, coaching and orientation to work and research, aimed at strengthening their skills. It guarantees access to the training and cultural activities organized by the Fondazione Ghislieri, such as language courses, talks and major events organized in its Aula Magna.




Ca’ della Paglia annually announces call for places reserved for students. Places can be accessed through a public competition.

The Collegio is intended to:

  • – PhD students
  • – Resident doctors and students of Schools of Specialization
  • – Master’s students
  • – Foreign students from all the existing study programmes
  • – Exchange students from abroad who decide to study at Pavia University for longer or shorter periods of time

It also offers hospitality to research fellows, researchers and visiting scholars and students, even for short periods.
