Foreign students enrolled in the Master Programme The Ancient Mediterranean World. History, Archaeology and Art at the University of Pavia can apply for a scholarship to cover living expenses at Collegio Ca’ della Paglia, Pavia, for one academic year. This scholarship, 6.600 € worth, will be awarded to the international candidate at Ca’ della Paglia call for applications, enrolled in the first year of the Master Programme mentioned above, which obtains the highest score in the final ranking over the selection process of perspective students.
Call for applications to Ca’ della Paglia is available online. Candidates will have to fill in the online form by Monday 20th September at noon (GMT+1) and to submit a CV, a cover letter (400 words max.) and two letters of recommendation. Selection will be held through evaluation of qualifications and an online interview.
The winner awarded the Licinio Oddicini Scholarship will be hosted free of charge at Ca’ della Paglia for one academic year, will take part to the training activities set up by Fondazione Ghislieri and will benefit from free lunches on weekdays at the Collegio Ghislieri canteen, in the city centre.
In order to renew the scholarship for a further academic year, the winner will have to comply these requirements: signing and accepting the “Piano Formativo Personalizzato”, which requires to take part to at least 25 hours of training activities; keeping high academic standards, namely an average score of 28/30 over all the University exams; complying with the rules and obligations as indicated in the “Contratto di Ospitalità”.
Licinio Oddicini (Omegna, 1919) was a journalist and an intellectual who took active part to the Second World War, enrolled in the Resistance movement of the partigiani. He founded the first newspaper of the Resistance, “Il Crivello”, and wrote on the newspaper of the provisional Government, “Liberazione”. He died on 25th April 1945, during the Milan rising, while endeavouring to set political prisoners free from the local San Vittore prison.
